Dave Cowan, CVT, VTS (ECC)

As a technician with 25 years of experience, my passion is no longer working on the floor but has shifted to focus on being an educator.   I enjoy teaching emergency topics, skills training, and RECOVER certifications. Without the right connections, reaching the right audience and making a real impact can be difficult. Fortunately, Action Vet Tech Services (AVTS) gave me the contacts and resources I needed to reach a wider audience and share my knowledge with others.

Before I joined AVTS, I was able to fulfill my passion for teaching and make a real difference in the lives of the technicians I worked with; however, working with AVTS, I have access to a wider audience than I ever could have on my own, and I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to share my knowledge with so many eager learners. I now have all the tools and resources I need to create engaging lectures and hands-on training sessions, and AVTS has helped me market my services to reach the right audience. My experience with AVTS has made my passion for teaching the main part of my job, not just a side hustle.

Finding opportunities to teach can be challenging. However, with the right contacts and support, it is possible to make a real impact, share your knowledge with a broader audience, and make a more global impact. I am grateful for Jacklyn and AVTS’s support in realizing my career goals.
