Competent – Confident – Connected

RECOVER Initiative

The Reassessment Campaign on Veterinary Resuscitation (RECOVER) initiative is a non-profit program focused on providing high-quality education, conducting evidence-based research, and developing CPR guidelines.

Elevate your team’s emergency response skills with our comprehensive RECOVER certification program. Through hands-on training and expert guidance, we empower veterinary professionals to save lives when every second counts.

Personalized – Efficient – In-depth

RECOVER Certifications

To become RECOVER certified, team members must first complete an online RECOVER training module through RECOVERInitiative.org. Although separate from AVTS, we can help you register for this module. After the online course, our certification sessions led by Dave Cowan, CVT, VTS (ECC) , provide course review in combination with hands-on CPR training for your entire staff and verify that every team member can successfully and efficiently perform CPR. We bring all necessary equipment and our only limitation is the amount of space you have for the training. We have had these training sessions in conference rooms, treatment areas, or even in a hospital’s waiting room. These sessions take 4 – 6 hours depending on how many people are in the session. Contact us for more details on how we can bring this to your team.

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Our BLS course focuses on the most essential CPR techniques: compressions and ventilation. After reviewing the online material, attendees will practice on CPR models under guidance and coaching from our instructor. Following multiple practice rounds, we move to certification, ensuring each team member can competently perform BLS CPR.

Advanced Life Support (ALS)

Building on BLS, our ALS course covers advanced techniques such as monitoring, IV fluids, medication administration, and reversals. Participants engage in guided practice scenarios until the team feels confident. Certification includes running “mega codes,” where the instructor evaluates the team’s proficiency in both BLS and ALS.
